Dino Crisis received largely positive reviews, though reviewers felt it appropriate to compare it with Capcom's Resident Evil line of games. The game saw fast sales, with Capcom ordering an additional 370,000 units on the second week of release due to store shortages. By the start of December this had reached 800,000 in Japan alone.[5] To keep up with this jump, American copies of the game were announced to have the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis demo built in.[6]

Graphics[]
Reviewers had mixed opinions on the game's graphics. IGN's Doug Perry praised the decision to use realtime polygonal environments, though he was disappointed the rooms were lesser in detail, seeing it as less cluttered and "more sterile".[1] However, other IGN writers were critical of the porting process, complaining the PC version failed to correct "bad seams and pixellated textures" that appeared during the porting.[3]
