"It shoots scatter shots. Capable of shooting enemies both close range and wide range." |
The Shotgun is Dylan's starting weapon in Dino Crisis 2.[1] It is a very effective weapon as the shells have a wide spread and can hit multiple Dinosaurs at once. This is great for counterattacks and combos. Despite its low attack power, the shotgun provides great knock-back power, capable of flinching Allosaurs under certain circumstances.

Further notes[]
- Despite its futuristic appearance in-game, the weapon appears in FMV cutscenes as a standard SPAS-12.
- Much like its inclusion in the first game, Dylan's use of the SPAS-12 is a reference to Jurassic Park, which prominently featured paleontologist Alan Grant and game warden Robert Muldoon using the weapon.
- Notably, Dylan cycles it in pump-action during the opening FMV, but uses semi-automatic during gameplay and later in the FMV. However, this isn't a discrepancy as the real SPAS-12 is designed to function in both semi-automatic and pump-action, with the latter used to reliably fire low-pressure ammunition such as tear gas or less-than-lethal bean bags.[1]
